Trojans Extend Winning Streak to Six Matches

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team remained perfect at home on the year and ran its winning streak to six matches with a convincing, 6-1, win over New Orleans on Sunday.

Troy (10-4) has not lost since mid-February and began the day with a dominate doubles point, dropping just six combined games in the three matches, including an 8-1 win by Karoline Grymel and Lyubov Dorofeeva at first doubles.

New Orleans (3-8) did manage to capture one singles match, winning in three sets at third singles, but by that time Troy had already clinched its fourth home match in as many tries this season.

Dorofeeva put Troy up 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win at second singles while Rosaura Ramirez-Vega put the Trojans up 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win at fifth singles.

Olivia Brooke Durden clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win at sixth singles, pushing the freshman to 3-1 in singles play at dual matches.

Grymel also won her match in straight sets for Troy with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at first singles. Candela Munoz Giron wrapped up the scoring for Troy at fourth singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win.

The Trojans return to the court on Tuesday as they travel to Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., to take on Eastern Kentucky in a neutral court match.
