Trojans Cruise Past Georgia Southern

TROY, Ala. – It just its second home match of the season, the Troy women's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 win over Georgia Southern on Sunday. The Trojans are now 2-0 at the Lunsford Tennis Complex this season.

Troy (5-4) pushed its record back over .500 and it started with a dominate doubles point as Troy swept all three matches, the closest by a score of 8-4.

In singles play, Troy senior Karoline Grymel got the ball rolling with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win at first singles. Candela Munoz Giron kept things going with a 6-2, 6-0 win at fourth singles to put Troy up 3-0.

Olivia Brooke Durden clinched the match for Troy at sixth singles in just her second dual singles match of the season. Durden won 6-2, 6-1 to give Troy the fourth and clinching point.

Anja Cosovic continued to roll as she won in three sets at third singles, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1. Cosovic is now 7-2 in singles play in dual matches as a freshman, including a 3-0 mark at third singles.

Georgia Southern (2-5) picked up its lone win at fifth singles while Troy's Lyubov Dorofeeva won at second singles 6-3, 7-5 to close out the 6-1 match.

Complete results are below. The Trojans return to the court on Saturday when they travel to Kennesaw State before hosting Jacksonville State next Tuesday.
