Trojans Continue Homestand on Saturday

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team continues a four-game homestand on Saturday when Jacksonville visits Trojan Arena in a game set to begin at 1 p.m.

Troy (3-2) is coming off of a fast-paced, 118-103 win over Alabama-Huntsville on Tuesday that included Joanna Harden scoring a Troy and Sun Belt record 52 points. Troy's 118 points were tied for the third most in school history. Troy has now scored 70-plus points in five straight games for the first time since the 1997-98 season.
The Trojans lead the Sun Belt in scoring at 89.4 points per game and have scored 100 points twice this season. Troy also leads the Sun Belt in made 3-pointers (8.4/g), 3-point percentage (.408), free throw percentage (.731), rebounds (47.6 rpg), blocks (5.4 bpg), steals (11.8 spg) and opponent turnovers (26.0/g).
Harden leads the league in scoring at 26.8 points per game and is the only Sun Belt player averaging over 20.0 per game. The senior guard has scored 20-plus points in four straight games and has scored in double figures in all five games.
Harden and Ashley Beverly-Kelley (13.2 ppg), both Preseason All-Sun Belt selections, make up the top scoring backcourt in the Sun Belt. The two also combine for 4.4 3-pointers, 7.4 assists and 3.6 steals per game.
Defensively, Troy leads the Sun Belt in forced turnovers at 26.0 per game, and scores an average of 27.2 points per game off of turnovers. In comparison, Troy's opponents scored 15.4 per game off of turnovers.
Jacksonville (1-2) hasn't played since Sunday when the Dolphins defeated Georgia Southern, 79-58, for their first win of the season. Sherranda Reddick leads the Dolphins, who score 65.3 points per game, with a 20.3 points per game average. She has made nine of JU's 11 3-pointers and 24 of their 49 free throws this season.
Troy is 10-4 all-time against Jacksonville, with 13 of the 14 meetings coming between 1999 and 2005 when the two were both members of the Atlantic Sun Conference. Troy defeated JU last season, 88-83, in overtime at Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville.
Following Saturday's game, Troy homestand will continue on Wednesday when Florida visits Trojan Arena. The four-game stretch concludes when Evansville visits next Sunday.
