TROY, Ala. – The 11th annual Trojan Stampede hosted by Troy University opens on Thursday night at the Pike County Cattlemen's Association. Performances begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and Saturday's championship performances begin at 4 p.m.
The Troy women enter the Trojan Stampede leading the Ozark Region by over 220 points paced by the top two goat tyers in the region in Kasia Smith and Kassandra Smith. Kelsey Kennemer is ranked fifth in the region in breakaway roping and 12th in barrel racing, while Lanie Culligan is ranked 12th in the region in goat tying.
The men's team is ranked seventh in the region led by John Pitts' third place standing in bull riding. William Wyatt enters the Trojan Stampede 10th in the region in tie down roping, while Will Batchelor and William Culligan are seventh in team roping.
Thursday's opening night performance is High School Night and all kids in grades kindergarten through 12th grade will be admitted free with a spirit shirt. Troy University students will receive free admission on Friday night with a valid ID and Saturday is Volunteer Night.
