TROY, Ala. – Seeding for the Sun Belt Conference Championships is on the line as the Troy women's soccer team (8-9-0, 4-3-0) travels to face Louisiana-Lafayette (8-6-2, 5-2-0) at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The Trojans have won two straight with the latest victory coming in a 1-0 decision over ULM at home on Thursday. The team secured a spot in the championships with a win over South Alabama on Oct. 20.
Heading into the season's final regular season match Troy is looking to move up in the league's standings. The Trojans are currently fourth but could jump as high as second with a win over ULL coupled with a South Alabama draw or loss to ULM.
Freshman Necee Jennings continues to lead the Trojans with seven goals, including the game-winner over the Jaguars. Jennings has four game-winners on the season, which ties her for the most in the Sun Belt Conference.
In the Trojans most recent win, sophomore Louise Cheng scored the game's lone goal, a header in the 14th minute against the Warhawks.
Goalkeeper Caitlin Buono earned the clean sheet against ULM. In 11 games played this season, Buono has 44 saves.
Troy defeated Louisiana-Lafayette, 1-0, in double-overtime last season at Troy. Maddie Tieken scored the game's lone goal with just 2:40 remaining in the second overtime.
The SBC Championships will be held in San Marcos, Texas, home of Texas State University, on Nov. 6-10.
