Trojans Host Texas State Sunday, Open Weekend on the Road

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Troy volleyball team has a tough weekend ahead of it with a road trip to UALR on Friday and a home match against Texas State on Sunday. Troy and UALR will play at 7 p.m. on Friday before Troy returns home to host Texas State at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
The matches open the second half of Sun Belt play as the Sun Belt Championships, being played at Trojan Arena, are less than a month away. Live stats and live video for Friday night's match can be found at UALRTrojans.com. Live stats and live video for Sunday's match can be found at TroyTrojans.com.
Troy (9-14, 4-5) is coming off of losses at Texas State and UT Arlington last weekend. The Trojans have been swept in just one of their five Sun Belt losses and have lost three of the five in five sets. Troy enters the weekend seventh in the Sun Belt standings, but just two games back of third place.
The Trojans are being led offensively in Sun Belt play by Blair Winston and Marija Zelenovic. Winston is averaging 3.57 kills/set in league play while Zelenovic is averaging 3.30 kills/set.
Senior setter Alexandra Alexander is averaging 10.40 assists/set in Sun Belt play, one of just three setters in the conference over the 10.00 mark. Alexander is averaging 2.72 digs/set on the season and has posted a double-double in four straight matches.
Courtney Cohen leads the Trojans with a 4.04 digs/set average and is just 121 digs away from becoming the fifth player in Sun Belt history with 2,000 career digs.
UALR (15-6, 7-2) opened Sun Belt play 7-0 but lost home matches to WKU and Louisiana-Lafayette last weekend. UALR won this season's first meeting with Troy, defeating Troy in five sets at Trojan Arena.
Texas State (15-9, 5-4) enters the weekend just a game ahead of Troy in the standings. The Bobcats defeated Troy and South Alabama last weekend to halt a three-match losing skid. Texas State plays at South Alabama on Friday before making the trip to Troy.
