FT. MEYERS, Fla. And LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Both the Troy men's and women's tennis teams hit the road for a pair of dual matches this weekend.
The men travel to Florida Gulf Coast on Friday (12 p.m.) and Florida Atlantic (11 a.m.) on Sunday. The women take on UALR (11 a.m.) on Saturday and Arkansas State (9 a.m.) on Sunday.
The Troy men (1-2) come in after nine days off since their last match, a near upset of No.21 Auburn. Both of Troy's losses have come to ranked teams as they also fell to No.42 UNC Wilmington, following a season-opening win over Presbyterian.
Thus far on the season, Sami Ghorbel has led the way with a 2-1 mark in singles play, all at fifth singles. The Trojans have yet to win a singles match from either first or second singles.
Florida Gulf Coast (1-2) has also lost to two ranked teams (No.32 Florida State, No.73 UAB) and has defeated Florida A&M. Florida Atlantic (0-2) has lost to South Florida and Florida A&M.
The Troy women (0-1) are also coming off of a long break, as they last played 12 days ago at the Georgia Invitational, a individual play event. The Trojans lone dual match of the season was a loss at No.38 Florida State.
Candela Munoz Giron posted a 2-1 mark in singles play at the Georgia Invitational, the only Trojan to win two singles matches at the event.
In double play, Troy's regionally-ranked duo of Karoline Grymel and Lyubov Dorofeeva knocked off a team from No.6 Georgia to highlight the tournament.
UALR (3-1) suffered their lone loss to No.25 Tulsa and just won on the road on Wednesday at UA-Fort Smith. Arkansas State (1-0) defeated Central Arkansas last week in its lone match of the season.
