GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Troy soccer team (3-2-0) was defeated by Furman (3-1-0), 1-0, on Sunday at Stone Soccer Stadium in Greenville, S.C.
Furman, who has already defeated Clemson and narrowly lost to Georgia, held the majority of the chances and eventually broke the tie in the 85th minute, as Stephanie DeVita headed in her third goal of the season.
"We didn't do enough in the final third against a good Furman team, but kept ourselves in it for the majority of the game," said head coach Chris Bentley. "Playing five games in nine days has been tough, but has certainly helped us tremendously with game fitness."
Maddie Winter was tremendous in net for the Trojans, making 11 saves.
The Trojans were out-shot 31-2, including 13-1 in shots-on-goal.
The Trojans return to action on Friday at the 2012 Trojan Classic. Troy will face Louisiana Tech in its first contest at 3 p.m. at the Troy Soccer Complex. For more information, visit TroyTrojans.com.
