Troy Rodeo Completes 2011-2012 Season

CENTERTON, Ark. – After three consecutive weeks of traveling to Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas, the Troy rodeo team's 2011-2012 season has come to an end.

The women's team continued their consistency with top five finishes with a fourth place finish in the second event hosted by Northwest Mississippi Community College. The women finished with 150 points, just 35 behind third place East Mississippi.

The men's team, who saw better results last fall, struggled again this past weekend, tying for eighth with 100 points.

Cody Skelton placed fourth in calf roping with 70 points. Murray State's Landon Crull won the event with 160 points.

The duo of Lane Taylor and Nelson Wyatt, who has been successful so far in team roping, struggled with their timing as they did not place in the event. Their time of 7.9 seconds put them fifth after the first round, but the two did not record a time in the second round.

Liza Ingram and Kassandra Smith both competed in the breakaway roping event, but neither of the Trojans placed, with times of 4.7 and 4.4 seconds, respectively.

Smith also competed in goat tying, an event she has been successful at thus far in the season. Smith placed fifth with 70 points and sixth in the average with a time of 17.8 seconds. Lanie Culligan's time of 18 seconds wasn't good enough for a top five finish.

Brittany Drawdy competed as the only Trojan Spur in barrel racing with a top five finish. Drawdy's average time of 34.17 placed her sixth in the average, and her point total of 60 gave her a fifth place finish overall.
