Women Highlight Tough Weekend for Troy Rodeo

MONTICELLO, Ark. – After 32 days of no competition, the Troy rodeo teams traveled to Arkansas this past weekend for the Arkansas-Monticello Bollweevil Stampede.

The highlight of the weekend came from the women's team as they had multiple cowgirls place in the top five in their respective events. As a team, the women placed fifth out of seven with 95 points.

Cassidy Aldridge placed third in the points and third in the overall average time in breakaway roping. Her 2.9 second first round and 4.5 second round times totaled for an average of 7.4.

Josey Owens was the highest finishing Trojan in the barrel racing event. Owens made her way around the three barrels with a time of 16.71 seconds in both the first and second round to finish fourth with a point total of 30.

Brittany Drawdy also competed in the event, but did not place after first and second round times of 16.73 and 17.3 seconds.

Kassandra Smith totaled first and second round times of 9.4 and 11.3, but did not place in goat tying.

The men's team placed eighth out of ten teams with a point total of 80. Cody Skelton was the only cowboy that made the short-go, but did not place in team roping.

The Trojan Spurs will be in action again on April 12-14 when they travel to Martin, Tenn. to compete in the UT Martin Rodeo.
