TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team knocked off the UAB Blazers, 5-2, Sunday afternoon at the Lunsford Tennis Complex, to pick the Trojans fourth straight win.
The Trojans (8-6) picked up wins in five of six singles matches against the Blazers (5-8) with Candela Munoz Giron picking up Troy's final win of the day defeating Caroline Faught 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 in a match that lasted almost four hours.
At the no. 1 doubles pair of Karoline Grymel and Iyubov Dorofeeva recorded Troy's only doubles win by defeating UAB's Paula Alvarez and Isabel Fernandez, 8-0.
At the no 1 singles spot, Grymel defeated Alvarez, 6-4, 6-1 in straight sets.
Both Dhaiui and Munoz Giron picked up wins for the Trojans in three sets. Dhaiui knocked off Rachell Daniell 2-6, 6-4, 7-5, while Munoz Giron defeated Caroline Faught 6-1, 5-7, 6-3.
Samya El Hsissen and Gabriella Veiga both notched wins as El Hsissden defeated Menanteau Moolman 7-5, 6-3. Veiga defeated Sarah Witkowski in straight sets 6-1, 6-4.
The Trojans will return to the court on next Wednesday, April 4, to continue conference play as Troy travels down to Mobile, Ala. to take on the South Alabama Jaguars.
