TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's basketball team will look to snap a three-game skid as it welcomes Louisiana-Lafayette to town on Saturday night.
The Trojans and Cajuns are set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m. in what marks the third to last game inside of Sartain Hall.
The Trojans (7-14, 2-8) are coming off of a 63-50 loss to FIU on Thursday night. Troy struggled from beyond the arc and at the free throw as it totaled a season-low 50 points in the loss to the Panthers. The loss marked the third in a row for Troy as the Trojans fell at Middle Tennessee and South Alabama last week.
The Ragin' Cajuns (13-11, 7-3) come in having won three straight, including an overtime win over Denver on Thursday night. However, of the Cajuns' 13 wins, nine have come in Lafayette as the Cajuns are just 4-9 away from home.

- The Trojans enter Thursday's game as the third best 3-point shooting team in the country as they average 9.6 made 3-pointers game. Florida (10.5) leads the nation while Troy has made 10+ triples in three of its last five games.
- The outside shooting creates long rebounds which allow the undersized Trojans to grab 14.9 offensive boards per game, the second best mark in the Sun Belt (South Alabama) and 10th best in the NCAA.
- Troy doesn't waste the extra possessions they create as they commit just 12.7 turnovers per game. Pair that with the 15.0 turnovers they force, and Troy's +2.33 turnover margin is the best in the Sun Belt. Troy is one of just four Sun Belt teams with more assists than turnovers this season.
- The Troy offense features a balanced attack as five different players have led the team in scoring this season. Will Weathers' 11.2 points per game average is tops on the team.
- The junior point guard doesn't just score, he is also one of the best distributors in the nation as his 6.1 assists per game lead the Sun Belt and rank 18th in the NCAA.
The Series
- Troy trails the all-time series with Louisiana, 4-6. That includes just three games at Sartain Hall where the Trojans are 1-2 against the Cajuns. Troy and Louisiana last played at Sartain on Jan. 10, 2009 with UL winning that contest, 83-81. The two sides have played the last three games in Lafayette.
- All 10 meetings have come since the Trojans joined the Sun Belt in 2005-06. In fact, Troy's only home win in the series came in that season as the Trojans topped the Ragin' Cajuns, 75-73, on Feb. 11, 2006.
- Four games in the series have been won by three points or less. Troy is just 1-3 in those games.
- The most recent of the four came last season at the Cajundome where the Cajuns won, 93-91, in an exciting game. Will Weathers scored a career-high 32 but missed a buzzer-beater in the loss.
Scouting the Cajuns
- The Cajuns come in after an overtime win against Denver at home on Thursday. Freshman Elfrid Payton hit a free throw with less than a second on the clock to give the Cajuns the 72-71 win.
- Louisiana has won three straight and five of their last six entering Saturday's contest. However, of the Cajuns 13 wins, nine have come at home as UL is just 4-9 away from the Cajudome, and 3-8 in true road games.
- All three of their road wins have come in Sun Belt play as UL has defeated WKU, UALR and ULM on the road.
- Josh Brown leads the Cajuns in scoring at 11.0 points per game while J.J. Thomas and Kadeem Coleby each average double-figures as well.
- As a team, the Cajuns are third in the league in field goal percentage defense as teams shoot just 39.3 percent against them, but they are third from the bottom in turnover margin. UL commits 16.3 turnovers per game, the second worst mark in the Sun Belt.
