Trojans Set to Bounce Back As They Return Home

TROY, Ala. – The Troy soccer team (5-7-1, 0-3-0) looks to right the ship this weekend with a pair of matches against Sun Belt foes Arkansas State and UALR at the Troy Soccer Complex. The Trojans take on Arkansas State on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and face UALR on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

The Trojans have dropped five straight, including a 5-1 loss at North Texas last weekend. Chelsey Williams scored the lone goal, with the assist going to Cecilia Thorngren.

Thorngren currently leads the team with 15 points on four goals and seven assists. Her seven assists are the most in the Sun Belt. Williams leads the squad with five goals and is second on the team with 13 points.

Arkansas State (8-5-0, 2-2-0) enter the weekend having won both matches last weekend, at home against ULM, 3-0, and Louisiana-Lafayette, 2-0. Christina Fink scored once in each game, as the Red Wolves picked up their first two conference wins of the season. Fink leads the team with 17 points on six goals and five assists, while Loren Mitchell and Jena' Kelley are right behind with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Troy is 4-3-0 all-time against Arkansas State. Last season, the Trojans were defeated on the road, 2-1, with Williams scoring on an assist by Paige McMillan.

UALR (1-11-0, 0-4-0) enters the weekend having lost five straight, and haven't scored a goal in over 450 minutes. Last weekend, the Trojans were shutout by Louisiana-Lafayette, 1-0, and ULM, also 1-0. Ariel Galletti leads the team with six points on two goals and two assists. Alyson Rohane is second with five points on two goals and one assist.

Troy is 4-3-0 against UALR and has won three straight. Last season, Troy defeated UALR 2-0, with Williams and Alissa Jones each scoring once.
