MOBILE, Ala. – Louise Cheng capitalized just four minutes into overtime to give Troy (9-9-2, 4-5-1) the win over South Alabama (8-9-3, 3-5-2), 2-1, to capture sixth place in the Sun Belt Conference standings.

“We are very proud of our effort tonight,” said head coach Chris Bentley. “We need to carry this momentum into the tournament.”

Cheng scored 3:41 seconds into the overtime period to give the Trojans the 2-1 win and the sixth seed in the upcoming playoffs.

Chanel Elgin got the Trojans on the board first, with a nice chip over the goalkeeper from close range in the 24th minute.

The Jaguars leveled the score in the 55th minute, capitalizing on a blocked shot, but Troy struck back.

The Trojans will face FIU in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Wednesday in Mobile, Ala., at 4 p.m.
