MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Trojans fell at Middle Tennessee on Friday, 3-1. Troy took an early lead, but a hat-trick by Middle's Paige Goeglein sunk the Trojans hope at stealing a road win.
“We didn't do a good job of defending as a unit today,” said head coach Chris Bentley. “We will turn our focus to Sunday and put this one behind us.”
Troy took an early lead, with Jasmine Fahrnbauer scoring her third of the season on a deep lob over the head of the goalkeeper in the 10th minute.
The Blue Raiders came fighting back, leveling the score in the 22nd minute, with Goeglein scoring her first of the day on a cross near the edge of the box. Goeglein would strike again before the half, and finish off the trio in the 61st minute.
The Trojans get back to the pitch on Sunday in Bowling Green, Ky. when they visit Western Kentucky at 1:00 p.m. Live stats and video can be found on the soccer schedule page on TroyTrojans.com.
