Tennis Set to Open Season

The Troy University tennis teams open their spring seasons this weekend as they hit the road to face some tough competition.

The women's tennis team travels to Athens, Ga. where they will take on No.46 Kansas State on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. before facing No.7 Georgia on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

The Trojans, led by junior Karoline Grymel and senior Olfa Dhaoui, will face the No.2 ranked player in the country in Georgia's Chelsea Gullickson. They will also face the second ranked doubles team in the nation in Gullickson and her partner Nadja Gilchrist.

Grymel posted a 15-10 record in singles matches for the Trojans last season, including a 14-10 mark while playing in the number one spot in the lineup. Dhaoui, one of two Troy seniors, posted an 11-13 mark last season in singles play, with the majority of those matches coming in the number two spot in the lineup.

The Trojans posted a 12-14 mark a season ago before falling the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Tournament.

The men's tennis team will also face tough competition to open their season as they travel to take on No.44 Florida State on Monday.

The Trojans will travel to Tallahassee with a very young squad as they have just one junior, Anas Rouchdi, and no seniors. Rouchdi posted a 7-10 record in singles play last season, but came on strong at the end of the season.

After playing his first 10 matches in the number two spot, head coach Eric Hayes moved Rouchdi to the number one spot in the lineup for the final seven matches where Rouchdi went 5-2.
