The Troy Trojans Cross Country teams will be heading to compete in the Florida State Invitational at the Apalachee Regional Park course on Friday.
The Trojans have continued to train hard, and Coach Casey McDermott said she is impressed with their progress.
“We are almost where we want to be to finish the season,” said Coach McDermott.
The Trojans will be competing against 16 other colleges and universities, and they want to make their presence known among some ranked teams.
The women will be competing first on the 5K course at 5:20 p.m. This will be the first time this season the women's team competes on a 5K course.
“I'm super excited because a 5K is what we normally run,” said the Trojans leading performer, Morgan Paulson. “I'm also interested to see how far we've come this season.”
The men will be competing on an 8K course for the second time this season at 5:45 p.m.
“This is the first year I have competed in any 8K courses,” said leading Freshman Sam Ammons.
Last week, Ammons finished third for the Trojans placing 68th overall with a time of 29:03.
“I'm looking forward to FSU, and I think our team will show a great performance,” said Ammons.
The awards ceremony will be at 6:15 p.m. with trophies for the team champions and t-shirts for the top 20 finishers.
Following the FSU Invitational, the Trojans will have a two week break to prepare for their final meet at home, the Coach “O” Invitational.
