TROY ends the season at 12-14

MOBILE, Ala. (SunBeltSports.org) – No. 1 seed FIU defeated No. 8 seed Troy, 4-0 in the second round of the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Championship at the Mobile Tennis Center.

FIU picked up the doubles point backed by wins at number one doubles by Liset Brito and Maria Spenceley 8-2 over TROY's Karoline Grymel and Leonie Guijt, and a number three doubles win by Lisa Johnson and Christine Seredni 8-4 over TROY's Lyubov Dorofeeva and Gabriella Veiga.

Giulietta Boha gave the Panthers their first singles point with a win at number six singles over Veiga 6-2, 6-0. At number one singles, Brito put together two 6-2 sets to win the match over Grymel.

FIU then closed out the competition as Spenceley defeated Rosaura Ramirez-Vega at number four singles 6-1, 6-1.

FIU advances to face No. 4 seed North Texas in the semifinals. Match time is set for 9 a.m. Saturday morning at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts on the campus of the University of South Alabama.

TROY ends the season at 12-14.
