Trojans Fall in Regular Season Finale

TROY had six-match winning streak ended by North Texas

DENTON, Texas (TroyTrojans.com) – Playing their second match in consecutive days, the Troy University women's tennis team had their six-match winning streak halted by the University of North Texas, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon.
TROY (11-13) dropped the doubles point despite winning at number three doubles on the afternoon. The number three team of Lyubov Dorafeeva and Gabriella Veiga claimed an 8-5 victory over North Texas' Madura Ranganthan and Paula Dinuta, setting the stage for the final two doubles matches of the day.
North Texas won at number two, 8-3, with the team of Nadia Lee and Amy Joubert defeating the Trojans' team of Olfa Dhaoui and Rosaura Ramirez-Vega. The point came down to the number one match, which actually went to a tiebreaker to decide the point. The North Texas team of Irina Paraschiv and Barbora Vykydalova defeated TROY's Karoline Grymel and Leonie Guijt 9-8 (7-2) to claim the doubles point for the Mean Green.
The Trojans were able to win one singles match, that coming at number two, where Olfa Dhaoui defeated Irina Paraschiv; 7-5, 6-0. They were leading at number one behind Karoline Grymel, as she led Barbora Vykydalova; 6-7, 1-2 before the match was halted. They also forced a third set at number five singles; 6-3, 4-6, 2-1 before the match was halted.
TROY will now begin preparations for the Sun Belt Conference Championships which start next week on the campus of the University of South Alabama in Mobile.
