Trojans Drop Road Contest to UNC-Wilmington

The Seahawks remain undefeated at home with the defeat of Troy

WILMINGTON, N.C. – A tough season continued for the rebuilding Troy University men's tennis team on Friday afternoon, as they fell to the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington 6-1 in non-conference action.
The defending Sun Belt Conference champions were able to capture a point in singles and a match in doubles against UNC-Wilmington. In doubles action, the number one team of Branko Weber and Mario Rolemberg won their match over UNC-Wilmington's Chris Cooprider and Kinshuk Sharma, 8-2.
However, it wasn't enough as UNC-Wilmington won at number two when the team of Illia Ziamtsou and Kosta Blank defeated Troy's Anas Rouchdi and Tommy Cundy, 8-3; while the number three team of Michael Pereira and Pedro Mol defeated the Trojans' Mansingh Athare and Niklas Jonsson, 8-4.
In singles play, Jamie Eccelton defeated UNC-Wilmington's Kosta Blank 6-2, 6-2 for the only point of the day for the Trojans.
Both Weber and Rouchdi lost their matches at the top two slots in singles play; while Rolemberg moved up from five to number three singles with Sami Ghorbel gone for the Davis Cup. The senior dropped his match 6-1, 6-2 to Chris Cooprider.
Meanwhile, the final two matches were won by UNC-Wilmington at number five and six.
The victory keeps UNC-Wilmington undefeated at home this season.
