The Trojans will look to record back-to-back wins for just the second time this season when they host Sun Belt West Division leader Denver on Saturday night in Sartain Hall.
Troy (6-17, 4-7) picked up a 72-59 victory over South Alabama on Thursday, splitting the season series with the Jaguars and earning a win over the in-state foe for the third straight season.
The Trojans used a career-night from senior Travis Lee (28 points, six 3-pointers) and Bernard Toombs' fourth-straight double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) to earn the victory on the road – just their second of the season.
Denver (12-12, 8-3) comes in with its mind set on maintaining first place. The Pioneers lead Arkansas State by just half a game going into this weekend's match-ups.
Troy leads the all-time series 4-2 and has won all four games played in Sartain Hall. The Trojans are hosting DU for the third-straight season. Troy was victorious 64-46 in the lone meeting last season.
Vernon Taylor (15.4 ppg) leads the Trojans in scoring, while Toombs leads the squad and is among the league leaders in rebounds (9.4 rpg). Sophomore Will Weathers leads the team and Sun Belt in assists (6.7), steals (1.9) and minutes (36.2).
Weathers ranks fifth nationally in the assists per game category at 6.7 per game.
The Pioneers are led by do everything guard Chase Hallam. The sophomore leads the team in scoring (13.2 ppg) and steals (37), along with ranking second in rebounds (4.3) and assists (60).
Sharpshooter Brian Stafford is second in scoring (13.0 ppg) and leads the team with 49 3-pointers.
Tip-off for Saturday night's game is tentatively set for 7:30 pm or 30 minutes following the completion of the women's game between the same two schools. Barry McKnight and Jerry Miller will bring you all the action from courtside on the Troy Sports Network by IMG College beginning with the State Farm Pregame show at 7 pm.
