Trojans Host FIU on Thursday

Troy has won two straight against the Golden Panthers.

Troy will try to make it two victories in a row and three-straight wins over FIU on Thursday night.
The Trojans picked up their first road victory of the season last Saturday, knocking off ULM 83-78 on the road in Monroe.
Troy got big games from Travis Lee (15 points), Will Weathers (18) and Shawntez Patterson (15) in addition to some excellent free throw shooting in the second half as they battled the Warhawks all the way to final horn.
The Trojans (5-16, 3-6) sit just two games back of second place Middle Tennessee. FIU has an identical 3-6 record in league play and stands at 8-13 overall.
Vernon Taylor leads the Trojans in scoring at 15.2 ppg – the fourth highest total in the Sun Belt. Weathers is doing his best to get on Sun Belt coach's all-conference radar. The sophomore from New Orleans is scoring 17.8 ppg in conference games while handing out 7.0 apg and grabbing 4.9 rpg.
Overall, he leads the Sun Belt in assists (6.6), steals (1.9) and minutes (36.0).
FIU features five players averaging double-digit scoring. JUCO swingman DeJuan Wright is tops at 14.7 ppg, followed by post player Eric Frederick (13.9), Kentucky/Illinois transfer Alex Legion (13.0), returning All-SBC honoree Marvin Roberts (11.4) and point guard Phil Gary (10.0).
Frederick leads the team in rebounding (6.7), but Legion has missed the last two games for disciplinary reasons.
The Golden Panthers and Troy rank as to of the top scoring teams in the league (73.1 ppg to 72.5 ppg), but also allow two of the highest totals (76.1 to 79.5).
Thursday night's game will also serve as Greek Night. All Troy University Greeks in attendance will have a chance to win one of several prizes being given away. Be sure to sign up when you enter Sartain Hall.
Tip-off for the matchup is tentatively set for 7:30 pm or 30 minute after the conclusion of the women's game. Barry McKnight and Jerry Miller will bring you all the action from courtside on the Troy Sports Network by IMG College beginning at 7 pm.
