The Trojans fall in their fourth straight road loss.
Denver, Colo. – Troy (7-7-1; 4-4) soccer fell to the top Sun Belt conference ranked Denver Pioneers (12-2; 6-0) on Sunday 6-0. It is the fourth straight conference loss on the road for the
Trojans who began their conference action 2-0 at home.
“Denver outclassed us in every aspect of the game today,” said head coach Chris Bentley.
Denver showed why they are number one in the conference coming out early in the 5' to score on a quick corner pass from Pioneer's Nicholette DiGiacomo to Kristen Hamilton who would record the virtual game winning goal against the Trojans.
Before going into half time the Trojans would allow three more goals from DiGiacomo in the 9', Hamilton again in the 15' and Katie Feltch in the 38'. The goals would send Troy into the second half down 4-0.
Troy's defense would go on to stand tall in the second half despite allowing two more goals in the 54' and 57' both by Kalie Vaughn to give the Pioneers the 6-0 final victory over Troy.
Troy now will have some time to prepare for their next challenge when they will host Arkansas Little Rock on Friday. The Trojans still remain 5-0 on their home pitch and will look to continue that record as they seek out redemption from their tough road matchups.
The Troy Trojans are set to kick off against UALR Trojans at 3 pm Friday, October 14 in the confines of the Troy Soccer Complex.
