Friday is Senior Day for the Trojan Soccer team.
TROY, Ala. – The Trojan (9-9-1, 4-6) soccer team will look to finish their regular season off strong when they welcome in South Alabama (11-4-3, 4-3-2) on Friday.
Troy, who has already established their post season seed in the Sun Belt tournament, will be looking to bounce back from a heartbreaking 3-0 loss to Middle Tennessee on Sunday. The match will be important for the young Trojan squad to establish last minute game experience before heading into the post season.
“The team continues to be positive in training and we realize that this game could potentially improve our seeding at the tournament, not to mention it provides a great chance to improve our play as well,” said head coach Chris Bentley.
The Trojans have yet to lose to the Jaguars under head coach Chris Bentley, but will look to improve on last season's win which took extra minutes for the Trojans to attain.
“USA is a team that is very athletic and dangerous in the attack,” said Bentley. “As always this will be a great test for our team!”
The Trojans will also be looking to claim one last home victory for their two out going seniors: goalkeeper Ashley Branham and forward Mary Morris. The 2011 senior class has aided in setting the bar for success for the Troy University soccer program. In their past four years they have claimed 37 victories; six more than the previous six seasons before their arrival to Troy.
“We want to send out our seniors on a great note, please come out and support us!” Bentley said.
Troy kicks off against South Alabama Friday at 3 pm in the Troy Soccer Complex.
