Troy Falls in Final Home Match

Trojan soccer defeated by South Alabama 2-1 at home on Friday.
Troy, Ala. – Troy soccer fell to South Alabama 2-1 in their final regular season matchup at home on Friday.
The Trojans (9-10-1, 4-7) fell behind to the Jaguars (12-4-3, 5-3-2) in the first two minutes of the match as Shawn Meach was able to direct a Linsey Snavely corner kick into the Trojans' goal.
The Trojan attack quickly intensified as the struck back with their own goal in the 35' as Maddie Tieken took a shot to the Jaguars' far post after receiving a pass from teammate Rochelle Bohuslavicky. The goal sent the Trojans into half time tied with the Jaguars 1-1.
However, in the 60' it would be Jaguar defender Landi Wilson with the final say as she recorded the game winning goal. Troy would go on to fall to South Alabama 2-1.
“We created many quality opportunities today; however we just didn't finish those opportunities,” said head coach Chris Bentley. “Credit goes to South Alabama for finishing their opportunities. It was an evenly match game and we came out on the wrong end.”
The Trojans did see outstanding individual efforts, especially from their seniors who were honored just before their final home match.
Senior goalkeeper Ashley Branham record six save on the evening and even had an attack towards the opposing goal after being pulled out of the net in the final minutes of the match as the Trojans were trailing by one goal.
Senior Mary Morris showed great determination in the forward position as she created many attacking opportunities for the Trojan offense. Morris would go on to record three shots on the evening.
The Trojans now turn their attention towards the post season Sun Belt tournament in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on Wednesday. Follow TroyTrojans.com for further tournament updates.
