The Troy soccer team face off against the Blue Raiders in vital conference matchup.
TROY, Ala. – The Trojan soccer team will be looking to continue their conference success against Middle Tennessee on Sunday as they wrap up the 2011 regular season with two matches remaining.
Troy (9-8-1, 4-5) enters the match at 6-1 at home and will be looking to bounce back from their last home match against Arkansas State when they suffered their first home loss of the season. However, the Trojans will have the momentum of their last match in which the knocked off Western Kentucky 1-0 on the road.
"The team has been working very hard at times of extreme adversity, so it is great to see them being rewarded for that,” said head coach Chris Bentley. “They seem to be full of energy, and I believe we can carry that into Sunday."
Middle Tennessee (9-7-1, 6-2-1) enters the match with a seven game unbeaten streak including a 0-0 tie against a tough South Alabama team in their last match on Thursday. The Blue Raiders currently hold the fourth place spot in the conference standings. A win on Sunday will be a vital victory for the Trojans who currently tie Arkansas State for the seventh spot.
"It doesn't get any easier with MTSU, they are on a 7-game unbeaten streak and have some tremendous athleticism,” Bentley said. “We will need to have another complete game if we expect to get a result."
The Trojans kickoff against the Blue Raiders Sunday at 1 pm at the Troy Soccer Complex.
