TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Troy University women's tennis team traveled to Tuscaloosa this weekend to take place in the Roberta Allison Fall Classic and came home with a good showing.
The Trojans were part of a loaded field at the University of Alabama Tennis Complex, and although they didn't capture any titles on the weekend, a few Trojans made some noise in their flights.
Olfa Dhaoui turned in the top performance for Troy as she advanced to the finals of her flight thanks to victories over opponents from Samford and UAB.
Dhauoi also teamed up with doubles to partner Rosaura Ramirez-Vega to reach the finals of their doubles flight. The two dropped the No.1 seed in the flight, Ashley Miller and Chloe Smith of North Carolina State, before also defeating opponents from Ole Miss to reach the finals.
Karoline Grymel also knocked off a seeded competitor on the weekend as she downed the No.2 seed in her singles flight, Elisha Hande of North Carolina State, to reach the second round.
Candela Munoz Giron also put on a good showing for the Trojans as she recovered from a first round loss in her flight to win two in a row and finished third in the flight.
Lyubov Dorofeeva accomplished the same feat as she fell in round one but recovered to finish third in her singles flight as well. Gabriella Veiga also competed for the Trojans and won her first round singles match.
The Trojans return to the court later this week as they travel to Birmingham to take part in the ITA Regional Championships hosted by Samford. The event runs from October 21-24.
