Trojans Win Two of Three Matches this Weekend in Tennessee

Troy claims victories over UT-Martin and Lipscomb

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Troy University women's tennis team closed out a big weekend of action this afternoon with a 6-1 victory over Lipscomb University, in the final of three matches in two days.
The Trojans started the day off with a quick point as they swept through doubles play, with the three teams combining to just give up six points. At number one, the team of Karoline Grymel and Leonie Guijt dispatched of Kara Jackson and Alyssa Bellini 8-2; while the number two of Olfa Dhaoui and Gabriella Veiga defeated Lipscomb team of Danielle Hansen and Elizabeth Keevil, 8-3. The sweep was complete when the team of Lybov Dorafeeva and Olivia Battye won at number three, 8-1.
In singles play, the Trojans claimed five of six victories led by Grymel claiming a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Keevil at number one. The Trojans also won at number two when Dhaoui claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Kara Jackson.
The Trojans won singles matches four through six to clinch the match, as they won five and six in straight sets. The only challenge in the three matches for the Trojans came at number four where Dorafeeva claimed a 6-1, 2-6, 10-4 victory.
Troy (2-2) also played UT-Martin and Memphis over the weekend, with both of those matches being played on Saturday.
Against UT-Martin, the Trojans claimed a 6-1 decision after getting the point in doubles play. The Trojans claimed the doubles point with wins at number one (8-2) with Grymel and Guijt, and at number three (8-3) with Dorofeeva and Battye.
In singles, Grymel won in three sets; 3-6, 6-1, 10-8; while the Trojans swept the top four spots. At number two, Dhaoui won 6-0, 6-1; and at number three Guijt claimed a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Meanwhile at number four, Dorafeeva claimed a 6-1, 2-6, 10-4 victory.
Troy also lost to the University of Memphis, 7-0 to conclude play on Saturday afternoon. Guijt pushed her match to three sets at number three singles before falling 4-6, 7-5, 10-7. The other lone victory against Memphis - although it didn't end in a point - came at number one doubles where the team of Grymel and Guijt recorded a hard-fought 9-8 (7-5) victory.
