Weathers Named SBC Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS - Troy sophomore guard Will Weathers has been named this week's Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Weathers, a New Orleans, La. native, put forth an MVP-like performance for the Trojans during last week's games. He averaged 29.5 ppg in a pair of narrow conference losses. Against Louisiana-Lafayette on Thursday, Weathers scored a career-high 32 points on 12-of-18 shooting (66 percent), while adding six assists and four rebounds.
Weathers kept his scoring streak going with 27 points against UALR on Saturday (Jan. 8). He hit a career-best three 3-pointers against the Sun Belt's other set of Trojans (UALR) and dished out 10 assists for his third double-double of the season.
The sophomore leads the SBC in assists (85), steals (2.0/gm) and minutes (35.2/gm) and is averaging 12.1 ppg, 6.5 apg and 5.0 rpg.
