The Trojans begin conference play this weekend as the take on ULM and Louisiana-Lafayette
TROY, Ala. – The Troy University soccer team heads to Louisiana this weekend to take on ULM (2-6-1) on Friday and Louisiana- Lafayette (5-4) on Sunday. The Trojans hope to build off of a five-match unbeaten streak as the head into the matchups.
“The team is real excited about this weekend,” said head coach Chris Bentley. “We're itching for conference play and are happy to be done with the non-conference schedule.”
ULM will be the Trojans first conference opponent of the season. Troy (5-2-1) wrapped up their non-conference play last week against Mississippi Valley State with a 5-0 shutout.
“We just try to take things one game at a time," Bentley said. "We are happy about the win streak going into the conference schedule, however we want to just focus on the task at hand.”
The Trojans have many positives in which they bring into the conference slate.
Along with a five-match unbeaten streak and a two-match win streak; Troy has not allowed an opponent to score in the last two matches.

Troy also has many individual players who have challenged the university's record book. Senior Jill Pinder, who broke the Troy record of most career goals last week will be hoping to expand that record this weekend.
“The girls aren't really focused on their records,” said Bentley. “They are more concerned about the team's efforts.”
Sophomore newcomer Ruth Sutcliffe will also be looking to make her way into the Troy record books as she is only one assist away from tying the single-season record for most assists at the school. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Ashley Branham along with the rest of the Trojan defense will be fighting for their fourth shutout of the season.
“Both teams are highly competitive,” Bentley said. “Every team is a threat and we can't afford to rest on anyone.”
The Trojans are set to take on ULM Friday at 4 p.m. and Louisiana-Lafayette at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
