Searcy, AR - Trojan Rodeo kicked off the second half of their season this past weekend at Southern Arkansas University.
The Trojans struggled as the men's rodeo finished in third and the women's ended the even in seventh place. This event is the first of the Trojans spring schedule after an extended break from the fall events.
"To prepare for this opening event we went back to the basics to re-grow our foundation and to work on our weaknesses as a team and worked to make each individual stronger," said Coach Josh Simmons. "We had a good weekend we just made little mistakes that cost us, but we're working hard to prepare for next weekend."
Although the team struggled, senior Stetson Aldridge had a great weekend finishing first in Calf roping. Freshman Kyle Wyatt also had a successful weekend by placing in the men's All-around.
"We are looking to gain some confidence from this last performance and use it for preparation for our next event. We will be looking to regain our lead this year," said Coach Simmons.
The Trojans will be back in action this weekend in Senatobia, MS. For complete results visit, collegerodeo.com.
