Anas Rouchdi Shines For Trojans In South Florida

Sophomore picks up multiple wins over the weekend for the Trojans
TAMPA, Fla. - The Troy University men's tennis team wrapped up the weekend on the campus of the University of South Florida this weekend with tough matches against Jacksonville and LSU.
On the second day of c ompetition, the Trojans recorded four singles victories against Jacksonville University; while also posting four doubles victories against the Dolphins.
Sophomore Anas Rouchdi continued to impress over the weekend as he picked up a singles victory and a doubles victory against Jacksonville on Friday. Rouchdi picked up the singles victory at number one as he defeated Fernando Banos-Lopez in three sets; 1-6, 7-5, 10-7. He then teamed with partner Mario Rolemberg to pick up a doubles victory over Matthew Hansen and Banos-Lopez in doubles, 8-3.
Meanwhile, junior Branko Weber picked up three victories on the day, as did his doubles partner Sami Ghorbel. The duo picked up doubles victories over Jose Fantova and Fantova (8-3) and then again over Fantova and Larry Condez (8-6). In singles play, Weber defeated Matthew Hansen; 6-4, 6-2; while his playing partner Ghorbel picked up a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Logan Shalmi.
Other winners in singles action on Saturday against Jacksonville included Jamie Eccleton with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Pitt von Dertzen; while in doubles action the Trojans picked up another pair of victories. Meanwhile in doubles, the team of Tommy Cundy picked up an 8-5 victory over Andrew Lerner and von Dertzen.
Meanwhile on Sunday, the Trojans picked up just one victory in singles and another in doubles against SEC power LSU.
Rouchdi continued his hot play for Troy as he registered the lone victory for the Trojans in singles play; defeating Julien Gauthier 7-6 (12), 6-2. He was also on the winning end in doubles action, as he and teammate Mario Rolember defeated the team of Borsos and Anderson 8-5.
