Home Proves to be a Good Place for the Trojans
The Trojan Stampede ended with a bang tonight for Troy. The Trojans had been doing well in the standings the entire weekend and the events on Saturday did not disappoint.
Four Trojans won their events on the last night of competition in the finals, and helped the team to place second in the overall team competition.
Kassandra Smith won the goat-tying event after heading into the finals tied for the fourth best time. Meanwhile, Stetson Aldridge won the calf roping competition tonight, having been in the top two in that event all weekend.
The team roping competition brought another win to the Trojan team as Jacob Amerson and his partner, Tyler Kile, from the University of Arkansas-Monticello won the event. They were tied for the best time heading into the finals.
The most interesting win of the night came from the bull riding competition where Justin Walker was able to bring home the win after getting the draw for the finals. Walker became the first Trojan to win bull riding earlier this season.
“It was great to be home and being at home helped motivate our kids to do better,” head coach Josh Simmons said. “The performances we had this weekend should give us good momentum going into our next competition.”
The Trojans cowboy and cowgirls will be in action again the last weekend in October in Murray, Kentucky, participating in the Murray Rodeo.
