Trojan Stampede Kicks Into Action

The Annual Trojan Stampede Started Up Tonight With Good Competition

The Trojan Stampede kicked off Thursday night at the Pike County Cattleman's Association.
Five Trojans participated in the Stampede with Whitney Hazouri scoring in the goat trying competition, with a time of 10.3. The other Trojans were in the bull riding, team roping, break-away roping and calf roping, but none posted a scoring time.
“It was a good first night with all the colleges and it's pretty tough competition,” Troy head coach Josh Simmons said. 'We're set up really well, being on our home turf and I'm really confident in our team to do well this weekend.”
The leaders of the events, so far, are as follows:
Bull Riding: 1. Jake Keith, Northwest Mississippi Community College, Score 62.
Bareback Riding: Tied for First James Earl Carter, Missouri Valley, and Tyler Waltz, UT-Martin, Score 74. A Three way tie for second with Jerrod Lee, Missouri Valley, Casey Carson, UT-Martin, and Will Crain, Missouri Valley, all with a score of 66.
Saddle Bronc Riding: 1. Will Smith, Missouri Valley, Score 76. 2. Austin Joseph, Murray, Score 58. 3. Ty Hughston, UT-Martin, Score 56.
Calf Roping: 1. Jesse Cook, West Alabama, Time 17.6. 2. Tyler Cornett, Southern Arkansas, Time 26.5.
Steer Wrestling: 1. D.D. Hunt, East Mississippi CC, Time 5.3. 2. Taylor White, East Mississippi CC, Time 5.1. Tied for Third Jordan Thrasher, UT-Martin, and Tyler Waltz, UT-Martin, Time 5.8.
Team Roping: 1. Eric Manos and Cody Bennett, UT-Martin, Time 8.8. 2. Seth McDaniel, UT-Martin, and Jarret McLaughlin, Murray, Time 9.4. 3. Kyle Bennett and JC Duncan, Murray, Time 14.7.
Breakaway Roping: 1. Victoria Meyer, Missouri Valley, Time 3.7. 2. Dana Fricker, Missouri Valley, Time 4.4. 3. Sara Beth Thompson, UT-Martin, Time 12.6.
Goat Tying: 1. Brittany Snowden, Lurleen B. Wallace, Time 9.1. 2. Whitney Hazouri, Troy, 10.3. 3. Chelsie McDade, UT-Martin, Time 10.5.
Barrel Racing: 1. Sami Ross, Missouri Valley, Time 17.09. 2. Lauren McDaniel, Missouri Valley, Time 17.9. 3. Melodie Kelly, Missouri Valley, Time 17.97.
The Trojan Stampede will continue Friday morning at 10 with "slack" competition. The second public performance will be Friday night at 7 p.m. The finals of the Trojan Stampede will be on Saturday evening at 7 p.m.
