Troy Soccer Travels To Arkansas For Conference Redemption

The Trojans take on UALR and Arkansas State looking to keep pace in conference race

TROY, Ala. – The Troy University soccer team travels to the state of Arkansas this weekend to take on Sun Belt Conference foe's UALR and Arkansas State. The Trojans will be looking to keep pace with the rest of the conference as they find themselves lumped with numerous teams in the conference standings as the season nears a close.

“Both teams are tough competitors,” said head coach Chris Bentley. “I expect our team to come out and give full effort just like they do every weekend; especially with this conference since we're in a tough conference. It showed this last weekend, losing a couple games that we didn't show up as well as we should have and didn't put out a full effort. As a result we were on the wrong end of results.”

Troy (8-5-1) will be looking to bounce back from a two-match losing streak, and three out of their last four conference matches. The Trojans are off to their best conference start this season, and despite the setback from the last two matches are still 3-3 in the Sun Belt. The Trojans are in prime position to maintain a lofty place in the conference standings, as they battle for the conference tournament.

“I feel like if we can get out and put a good effort forth we can learn from this and build off it,” said Bentley. "This last weekend where we didn't do that, we kind of took a step backwards. I'm hoping we can train well and we have been this week.

"We can move forward into a very competitive weekend, especially being on the road it will be a tough task. Hopefully we can put that all together and we can come home happy.”

The Troy Trojans will take on the Trojans of UALR on Friday at 7:00 pm and then the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
