Trojan Women Take First in Opener

MARSHALL, Mo. - The Troy University Rodeo kicked off their 2009-2010 season this past weekend in the Missouri Valley College Rodeo in Marshall, MO.
Overall the women 's team finished first with a total of 325 points. Marla Seidelman finished first in Breakaway Roping with a time of 5.7 seconds, while Whitney Hazouri finished third with a time of 7.9 seconds.
"The women did really well, their hard work really paid off. They are very pumped about next week." coach Josh Simmons said.
The men's team finished the event in third with 475 points. Clint Keller and Mark Gentry finished first in Team Roping with a time of 15.2 seconds.
Simmons admitted the men had a tough time, but was pleased with the showing from a handful of freshmen.
"The men had a rough week however freshmen Kyle Wyatt, Lane Taylor, and Tyler Cornett really stood out," Simmons said.
Both teams will be in Magnolia, Arkansas October 1 - 3 for the Southern Arkansas rodeo. Visit collegerodeo.com for complete stats.
