Trojans Hit The Road Again

Saddles are cinched with great expectations and high hopes for the Troy rodeo team this weekend.
The Trojans travel to Southern Arkansas University to face the Mule Riders of SAU along with all the other foes from the Ozark Region.
“We are hungry for the competition,” head coach Josh Simmons said. ?The ground was not to be desired in Missouri and we are headed to a place that looks to be good for us.”
The Ozark Region opened up competition with the first rodeo of the season at the Missouri Valley College Viking Stampede two weeks ago.
Freshman Callie Wigington started off her season with 205 points to her name in the breakaway and goat tying competitions. She was named the All-Around champion of that competition and looks to build on that strong start.
“It was exciting to win at MVC,” Wigington said. “We have to stay aggressive and do try to do the things to put us in a place to win.”
The men of Troy finished third overall with 420 points, behind the Vikings of MVC and the University of Tennessee-Martin. The women's team finished tied with Murray State University for sixth.
The rodeo is September 25-27 starting each night at 7 p.m. For more information and Ozark Region Standings visit www.collegerodeo.com.
