“I feels good to get another win and go the distance,” Ellison said. “I want to thank my defense behind me and how we were able to put runs on the board. That took a lot of pressure off of me and I was able to make pitches.”
Ellison (2-1) gave up two runs (one earned) on nine Owl hits. He walked only one batter while striking out two.
“We took advantage of some fielding miscues by FAU and that won the game for us,” head coach Bobby Pierce said. “Ryan pitched a great game for us and I am very proud of him. He deserves a lot of credit but we also did all of the little things right behind him.”
The Trojans got on the board in the bottom of the first inning for the fifth straight game. Miller led off the inning with a single and was thrown out trying to steal second by Nick Criaris. Felix followed that with a triple off of the wall in left center. He scored on a single up the middle off the bat of Michael Precise for the early 1-0 lead.
FAU (20-12, 9-6) matched
The Owls added another run in the second when Block singled and later score giving FAU the 2-1 lead.
Miller, Williams, and Pettus each had two hits. Bryant chipped in three hits to go along with two RBI.
The Trojans will look to take the series tomorrow afternoon in the third and final game of the series. First pitch is set for noon CT.
