MONTICELLO, Ark ? Troy team ropers completed the task at hand and brought home yet another win in the competition for the Trojans.
Junior Andy Seiler and sophomore Mark Gentry won the overall average with a total time of 15.3 seconds in two rounds of competition.
“We were glad to get the win,” Seiler said. “We had a good game plan and we stuck to it and we are glad it all worked out.”
Sophomores Clint Keller and Ty Ethridge finished second overall in the event with a time of 17.8 seconds on two steers, and first in the championship round with a time of 5.8 seconds.
The team of Seiler and Gentry earned an event best 155 points a piece for the win in Monticello, with their teammates Keller and Ethridge winning 110 points each.
Tabitha Kiker gained points for Troy not only in the team roping, but in the breakaway roping as well. Kiker finished third in the short-round and third overall in the breakaway competition with a time of 6.6 seconds on two calves, earning her 120 points in the event.
“I really needed those points,” Kiker said. “We are trying so hard to get to the College National Finals Rodeo and with the race being as close as it is we need to get every point we can.”
Others earning points for Troy included Will Bradley in the team roping and steer wrestling, Aaron Lowe in the team roping, Jackie Jacobs in the goat tying, Kindal Jumper in the barrel racing, and Randie Jo Williams in the barrel racing.
The next event for the Troy rodeo team will be in Martin, Tenn., April 10-12, with each competition beginning at 7:30 p.m.
