Trojans Fall To UAB

UAB (7-13) took the early lead with a two-run first inning. Nick Crawford reached base with a one out walk. Phil Bell followed with a towering home run over the wall in left center for his third bomb of the season giving the Blazers the early 2-0 lead.
Troy (16-8) put three runs on the board in the top half of the second inning when Brett Henry walked to lead off the inning. Rob Brown followed him with a walk of his own. Trevor Tyre reached base on a bunt single but a throwing error by Johnny Volk sailed high at first, allowing both Brown and Henry to score and advancing Trye to third. Bryan Miller grounded out to the shortstop plating Miller and giving the Trojans the 3-2 lead.
UAB tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the second inning when Andrew Manning walked and scored on a RBI double to center off the bat of Brint Hardy.
The Blazers reclaimed the lead in the third inning when
UAB blasted three balls out of the ballpark in the sixth inning as the Blazers touched Jeff Green for three runs on three hits to take the 7-3 lead.
The Trojans got two runs back in the top of the seventh inning when Brown singled to left.
UAB answered the Trojans scoring inning with three more runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Blazers plated three run on three hits in the inning to widen the lead, 10-5.
The Trojans loaded the bases in the eighth but a double play got the Blazers out of the jam and ended the threat.
Mike Powers got the start on the hill for the Trojans as he went an inning and a third. He allowed three runs on three hits in the outing. He also walked two and struck out two.
Green (0-2) had a good outing until the sixth inning when he gave up the three home runs. Green hurled four and two third innings and gave up four runs on seven hits while striking out seven.
Neal Jordan followed Green and didn't last very long. He gave up three runs on three hits in the seventh.
UAB's Johnny Volk started the game and went 2 2/3 inning allowing three runs on four Trojans hits. He walked three and struck out three.
Kyle Roberson (2-2) got the win on the hill for UAB going three innings while giving up one hit and striking out four.
The Trojans will have a couple of much needed days off before playing host to
