3/25/2008 5:00:00 AM | Rodeo
Sophomore Clint Keller is looking for another strong performance after a great all-around showing at the Mississippi State Bulldog Stampede in
“I am ready to go and rodeo,” Keller said. “I feel as if I am in a great position to make the College National Finals Rodeo in more than one event and I just need to keep getting points.”
Keller earned points in both the tie-down roping and won the team roping with fellow Trojan sophomore Ty Ethridge in
He is currently second in the Ozark Region standings in the tie-down roping, right behind his teammate, junior Ben Mayworth.
Keller is also ranked ninth nationally in the team roping header standings, looking to make his second berth to the CNFR in that event.
Mayworth is ranked eighth nationally in the tie-down roping and is looking to qualify for his third CNFR.
“We have roped consistently all year,” Mayworth said. “We just have to keep pushing one another and try to get as many Trojans as we can to the finals.”
Freshman Nisha Middleton and sophomore Mary Owens are ranked second and third, respectively, in the barrel racing competition, less than 100 points behind first place.
The Troy University men's team is currently ranked 16th nationally with 2615 points, while the women's team is ranked 25th with 1085 points.
The Boll Weevil Stampede will begin each night in Monticello, Ark., March 27-29 at 7:30.
