Rodeo Wraps Up Pre-Christmas Schedule

The Troy Trojans Rodeo team is over the half way point of its season and is through with competition until after Christmas break.
The Trojans fared well this past weekend at Murray State, the men finishing 3rd in the first rodeo and 4th in the second rodeo as the women finished 5th in the first rodeo and 2nd in the second rodeo to keep both teams right in the mix of the regional standings at this point.
“The teams did well, the stock eliminated some of us in both rodeos, but I was happy with their performance,” said head coach Josh Simmons.
With Thanksgiving coming up and Christmas just around the corner the Trojans will have a well deserved break before getting back to action when they will start riding again in January to prepare for March.
“They have been working very hard this year, so they will take a break and come back after Christmas and get back to work,” Simmons said.
With the finishes by the teams in last weekend's event both the men and women are currently sitting in third place in the Ozark Region, the women only 22 points out of second place.
“I think we are in a good position to put ourselves into the regional tournament in the spring if we continue to ride well,” said Simmons. “We have a lot to make up but we are in a good position to do that,” he added.
In the first rodeo of the weekend Aaron Lowe finished 2nd in steer wrestling and 4th in team roping with Daniel Clemmons, taking 1st in the men's all-around in front of teammate Clint Keller in 2nd, while finishing 1st in team roping in the second rodeo with Daniel Clemmons, taking 3rd in the men's all around. Ben Mayworth took 1st in calf roping in the first rodeo. Clint Keller took 4th in the calf roping and 3rd in team roping with teammate Mark Gentry.
Tabitha Kiker finished 3rd in the women's all-around and Whitney Hazouri took 2nd in breakaway roping in the first rodeo. Callie Wiginton tied for 3rd in the women's all-around in the second rodeo while Mary Owens placed 2nd in barrel racing and Whitney Hazouri finished 3rd in breakaway roping.
