TROY, Ala- The Troy Trojans swept a double header from the Ontario Blue Jays Sunday afternoon 7-0 and 7-0 at Riddle-Pace Field.
The Trojans played an all-around solid first game against the Blue Jays. The best performance came from three Trojan pitchers. Jason Walls started the game and did not allow a hit in four innings of work. He walked two batters while fanning four. Chris Source followed Walls with two more innings of no hit baseball before handing the ball to Josh Storm to close out the game. Storm gave up the only hit in the seventh inning while striking out the side.
Offensively the Trojans collected 10 hits and left seven runners on base. The Trojans scored four runs on five hits in the fourth inning to break the game open. Adam Bryant got it started with a lead-off double. Michael Precise followed with a single and Bryant scored on a double from Daryl Otwell. Charley Williams plated Precise and Brett Henry knocked in Otwell with a single to give the Trojans the 4-0 advantage.
Troy added a run in the fifth inning when Otwell knocked in Bryant who walked to start the inning, to push the lead to 5-0.
The Trojans put two more on the board in the sixth on a RBI single from Bart Pettus and Lance Miller put an exclamation point on the game with towering shot over the wall in right field
Otwell had two doubles and two RBI to help lead the attack. Chad Watson and Lance Miller each had two hits in the first game. Pettus also had two RBI in the contest.
GAME 2
The second game was much like the first, good pitching and quality hitting. The trio of pitchers, Drew Hull, Jeff Green and Travis Burge surrendered only two hits in the game. Hull tossed the first three innings and struck out four batters. Green followed and gave up one of the hits while striking out three. Burge closed the game in the seventh facing the minimum.
Troy wasted little time in getting on the board in the second game. Trevor Tyre hit a ball deep over the fence in left field for the early 1-0 lead. A single by Miles Hoyle and a triple from Charley Williams set the table for Blake Martz to pick up a RBI, extending the Troy lead to 4-0.
The Trojans plated three more in the sixth inning when Brock Kelley singled and scored on a double from Josh Pitts. Pitts and Tyre scored on a double form Hoyle for the 7-0 final.
