The Trojans are saddling up this weekend, but they aren't riding out as they will host the Trojan Stampede at home.
The Trojan Stampede is to be held this weekend at Troy's rodeo arena, otherwise known as the Pike County Cattlemen's Association, on Highway 231 just south of Troy University from Thursday, October 16 through Saturday, October 18.
This is the first rodeo held in Troy under head coach Josh Simmons, who became head coach back in March of this year.
"We are real excited to host an Ozark Region event here," Simmons said. "We have a great booster club and a great support team who really backed me up and everything should go off great."
The Trojan rodeo teams are excited to be defending their home turf this weekend.
"They are going to treat it like any other rodeo," Simmons said. "But we know the pin and the facility so we should have a bit of a competitive edge with the home field advantage."
Troy's in-state rival, the University of West Alabama, will stroll in to town this weekend with both the Trojan men and women teams one up with the win over the Tigers in Livingston last weekend.
"We want to win at home and we want to keep whoopin' Livingston," Simmons said.
The long go is Thursday and Friday with the slacks beginning at 8 am and the performances beginning at 7 pm.
The short go will be Saturday with the slacks also beginning at 8 am the performances at 7 pm.
