Trojans Win North Arkansas Rodo

The women's team finished second in the Ozark Region standings after finishing sixth in the North Arkansas Rodeo. The second-place finish gives the Trojans a place in the CFNR for the first time in school history.
Ben Mayworth finished with the fastest total time in calf roping, turning in a time of 23.2 seconds. Mayworth's time of 10.7 seconds in the short go was the quickest in the event, and he also won the long go with a time of 12.5 seconds. Wes Brunson finished second in the average of that event with a total time of 24.8 seconds. Brunson finished second in the short go with a time of 11.1 seconds and fourth in the long go with a time of 13.7 seconds.
Erin Bullin won the average in steer wrestling with a combined time of 14.7 seconds. Bullin finished second in the short go with a time of 5.3 seconds and fifth in the long go with a time of 9.4 seconds.
The team of Andy Seiler and Zak Dobbins finished third in team roping with a total time of 17.3 seconds. The team tied for third in the long go with a time of 8.3 seconds, then finished fourth in the short go with a time of 9.0 seconds.
Lauren Cox finished first in the long go of the barrel racing event, finishing with the fastest time in the entire rodeo, 16.29 seconds.
The Trojans claimed four of the 12 saddles given to the athletes who finished first in the regional standings for their events, more than any other school in the Ozark region. The Trojans will also have more athletes competing in the CFNR than any other school in the region.
Cox won the region in barrel racing, and teammate Randa Dewees finished third in the regional standings for that event. Jackie Jacobs finished third in the region in goat tying. Cox, Dewees, Jacobs and Heather Cave will represent the Trojans in the CFNR.
On the men's side, Wes Brunson finished first in calf roping and third in team roping in the regional standings. Ben Mayworth finished third in calf roping, and the team of Andy Seiler and Zak Dobbins finished first in the region for team roping.
The girls are disappointed that we didn't win the whole thing,” Troy head coach Cliff Toliver said. But, they've had a great year and they gave it all they had. I'm really proud of them. Now we just need to compete will in the finals. This will be good for us next year.”
The College Finals National Rodeo will be held June 11-17 at the Casper Events Center in Casper, Wyo.
