Trojans Qualify for College National Finals Rodeo

Troy, Ala. - The Troy University men's rodeo team finished third in the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rodeo. Their 181 points secured a second-place finish in the Ozark Region, securing a place in the College Finals National Rodeo. This is the first year the Trojans have earned a place in the CFNR, and their 2,005.82 points are the most accumulated in school history.
On the women's side, the Trojans won their first ever rodeo title with a first-place finish at NWMCC. The Trojans scored 205 points in the event, led by Jackie Jacobs and Heather Cave, who finished first and third, respectively, in the goat-tying event.
Troy junior Erin Bullin finished second in the men's all-around, scoring 116.66 points. Bullin won steer wrestling with a combined time of 18.4 seconds. He paired with Wes Brunson to take second in the team roping event with a combined time of 18.3 seconds.
Payton Sides finished fifth in tie-down roping with a total time of 32.9 seconds. Chase Chapman finished fifth in steer wrestling with a long-go time of 7.2 seconds.
"This has been our best year ever," said Troy head coach Cliff Toliver. "It's very exciting to qualify for nationals. Erin Bullin and Wes Brunson have really led us well this year."
Brunson is currently ranked second in the region and eighth in the nation in the men's all-around standings with 971 points. Brunson is ranked fourth nationally in tie down roping with 500 points.
Bullin is ranked fifth in the region with 569 points. He leads the Ozark region and is ranked seventh nationally in steer wrestling with 375 points.
Along with the men's team, Jackie Jacobs has qualified in the goat tying event, finishing third in the Ozark region with 300 points.
The College Finals National Rodeo will be held June 13-19 in Casper, Wyo.
