Troy set to host Trojan Stampede

Twenty schools will be represented in the event, including Mississippi State, Tennessee-Martin, West Alabama, Arkansas State, Southern Arkansas, Missouri Valley and North Carolina State. Each day will include nine events - bull riding, barrel races, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, goat tying, team roping, break-away roping, steer wrestling and bareback riding. Thursday and Friday nights will hold the long go of each event.
Events that are not schedule to finish on Thursday or Friday night will overflow into Friday morning, beginning at 9 a.m.
Starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, there will be team opens and other various rodeo events. The top 10 finishers in each event will compete on Saturday night.
The Troy women's team is in second place in the Ozark Region standings with 465 points. Missouri Valley is leading the region with 690 points. Randa Dewees leads the region in barrel racing, with 210 points.
The Trojan men are in third place in the Ozark Region standings, behind leader Tennessee-Martin and second-place Missouri Valley. Wes Brunson is ranked second in the men's all around with 465 points. Erin Bullin ranks first in the region in the team heeler category, with 200 points.
The Trojan Stampede will be held at the Pike County Cattlemen's Association on Hwy. 231. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students. Troy University students and children ages seven and younger are free.
