Trojans Finish Fourth in UWA Rodeo

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The Troy University women's rodeo team took third in the University of West Alabama rodeo held Oct. 21-23. The men's team finished fourth in the rodeo.
Heather Cave won both the short and long rounds of the goat tying event, finishing with a time of 9.2 seconds in the short round and a total time of 18.0 seconds. Cave also placed fourth in the breakaway roping event with a time of 6.4 seconds.
Wes Brunson and his partner Nick Kent from Southern Arkansas State University finished first in the team roping event, both overall and in the short round.. The duo had a short-round time of 4.9 seconds and an overall time of 13.4 seconds. John Perrett and Cody Murphy finished second overall and in the short round in team roping with a short-round time of 11.8 seconds and an overall time of 17.7 seconds.
Erin Bullin placed fourth in steer wrestling with a time of 10.2 seconds.
The men's team is currently in third place in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association's Ozark region. Brunson is second in tie down roping with 200 points. He is behind the University of Arkansas-Monticello's Cody James, who has 280 points. He is also number two in the team roping header category with 71.7 points. Perrett is third with 60 points.
The Trojan women are in fourth place in the NIRA Ozark division. Cave is in second in the goat tying category with 140 points.
Troy's next event is the Murray State rodeo held Nov. 18-20 in Murray, Ky.
