Nathan Griffin begins his first season as Troy's men's and women's golf assistant coach; he joins the Troy staff following a stint as the assistant tournament director for the Alabama Junior Golf Organization.

Griffin brings vast experience across multiple avenues in the golfing world with him to Troy following tenures with the Alabama Junior Golf Organization, Auburn men’s and women’s golf, Cider Ridge Golf Club and Faulkner men’s golf.

“We are very excited for Nathan to be joining our program,” men’s head coach Clay Bounds said. “He’ll be a great asset for both the men’s and women’s teams. Nathan brings a young and enthusiastic energy that will elevate our guys on and off the course. His positive attitude will serve us well as we continue to build on an already storied program.”

“Nathan brings an extensive golf background and knowledge of the game,” women’s golf head coach Randy Keck said. “His enthusiasm is contagious, and he will bring a nice energy and passion to our program. Nathan will assist in a lot of player development on the golf course and be a great resource for recruiting. He has a nice understanding of what we are looking for in players and what it takes to be successful at Troy University. He will be a very strong asset for both of our programs.”

Prior to his run with the Alabama Junior Golf Organization, Griffin was an operations and administration assistant for the Auburn men’s and women’s golf teams during the fall of 2022, following a year as a graduate assistant for the Jacksonville State athletics department during the 2021-22 athletics season.

Griffin began his professional career as a first teaching assistant at Cider Ridge for 15 months before moving into the assistant pro role at the club for 18 months before moving into the collegiate athletics realm at Jacksonville State.

He was a four-year letterwinner at Faulkner, where he was a three-time all-academic team member and a three-time Dean’s List selection.

Griffin earned his bachelor’s degree in sport and fitness management from Faulkner in 2021 and his master’s degree in sports management from Jacksonville State in 2022.
