Kyle Roane enters his first season on Troy’s coaching staff in 2026-27.
A veteran with more than 30 years of coaching experience, Roane most recently spent four seasons as the associate head coach at Southeastern Louisiana, marking his third stint with the program.
During his time at SLU, Roane played a key role in the development of multiple Southland Conference award winners, including Student-Athlete of the Year Nick Caldwell (2023-24), Newcomer of the Year Sam Hines Jr. (2024-25) and Freshman of the Year Jeremy Elyzee (2024-25). He also helped guide the Lions to a winning season in 2023-24 and a first-round bye in the Southland Conference Tournament.
Prior to his most recent stint at Southeastern Louisiana, Roane spent three seasons at his alma mater, Southern Miss, serving as associate head coach under Jay Ladner. He returned to Hattiesburg after following Ladner from Southeastern Louisiana, where the duo guided the Lions to the 2018 Southland Conference Championship game behind a 22-12 overall record and a 15-3 mark in conference play.
Roane also spent the 2016-17 season as the Director of Basketball Operations at Southern Miss under Doc Sadler.
His first coaching role at a four-year institution came with the Golden Eagles from 1996-2003, where he was elevated to associate head coach for the 2002-03 season. During that stretch, Southern Miss recorded two 22-win seasons, advanced to the NIT twice and won the 2001 Conference USA regular-season championship.
Roane spent a season on the bench at Pearl River Community College (2004-05) before earning his first collegiate head coach job at Jones College (2006-08).
Roane's other head coaching stops included Forrest County Agricultural High School (2003-04, 2010-11) and Petal High School (2011-14).
He also served on the Jacksonville State staff from 2008-10.
The Brooklyn, Miss., native began his coaching career at Pearl River Community College, serving as a student assistant from 1992-94 before becoming a full-time assistant while completing his undergraduate studies.
Roane earned his bachelor's degree from Southern Miss in 1995 before completing his master's degree in 1997.
Roane has two children: Spencer and Shelby.
